USAA Delivers Shutdown Relief, Ensuring Financial Security for Impacted Members
Association issued more than $468 million in relief through 2025-26 shutdowns
April 30, 2026 | With passage of a funding bill and federal payment disruptions no longer expected, USAA has ended its zero-interest loan program for the Spring 2026 government shutdown. Payment relief options may still be available. More details are available at usaa.com/relief.
As of April 29, USAA delivered over $18 million of relief to thousands of members employed by federal agencies impacted during the current shutdown, including:
- Nearly 4,900 loans to support members experiencing paycheck disruptions, totaling more than $16 million
- 1,400 consumer loan payment extensions, helping members free up $2 million for more immediate needs
- Credit card payment extensions
- Waived or refunded overdraft fees for deposit accounts
During shutdowns, USAA provides a financial assistance program to help members navigate potential disruptions to pay and continue ensuring their financial security. Since October 1, USAA has provided over $468 million in shutdown relief to more than 133,000 military service members and federal employees.
